Why Rowing Is Addictive

Rowing is one of those sports that either you will love or hate. Most people don’t find it particularly spectacular to watch compared to the big team sports. Whoever has practiced it though, has a totally different and unique idea because of their experience!

My first rowing experience was caused because the company where I used to work decided to organise a team building day out of the office and not because I was particularly interested in it. It was great news for everyone and made the whole team very happy as we had been working hard for a while and we needed having to relax and have some fun outside the office. No need to mention the fun aspect of doing such a thing.

The Corporate hospitality event took place in a amazingly beautiful welsh river 2 hours away from Cardif where the company was located. That would be my first ever experience with rowing and I found it quite entertaining. The team spirit was very high and it made us all  feel as an integral part of the same unit. Maintaining the team spirit is really important the value of each individual is not the most important thing. Contrary to many peoples beliefs, rowing is not mainly about strength and power but more about how the team gets together to perform a common task. There is no place for selfish attitudes as they will be completely disapproved.

The Henley Regatta rowing event that takes place in London was an event that really struck me and made me addicted to rowing. The best rowers from all around the world compete for 5 days in the UK capital and that makes it an incredibly great spectacle. What is great about it is that even though there is very intense competition, the people around you always remain calm and friendly unlike rivaries that take place in football and the rest of the big sports.
