How To Pack For A Skiing Trip

Skiing is a sport that you either love or hate. Ski trips can be enjoyable mini vacations or week long adventures. The trip needs to be well thought out as packing can be overwhelming if you have never been on a trip designed to be spent in the snow.

The first thing to do is research resorts in the area you want to visit. Make sure to check on the other activities offered outside of skiing. Often times there are not any eating establishments close to the resort so if you do not want every meal at the lodge, verify where others are. Make sure you pack a leather watch for being on time to your ski instructions. Many will not wait for late attendees and if this is your first time, you will need lessons.

Pack items that can be worn in a layered fashion. Sweaters and long sleeve shirts are a must for the snow. Also pack a couple pairs of thermal underwear to stay warm and protected against snow and wind. Purchase socks that are water resistant, they can be found in the sports department of most stores. Remember to pack a pair of women’s brown boots for keeping feet warm.

It will be difficult to determine the temperature changes on while out as they do fluctuate. When you wear layers of clothing it will be easier to keep your body warm without becoming overheated. Simply remove a sweater should you begin to sweat, but always wear a jacket for protection against the wind.

There is no need to go out and purchase an expensive jacket designed specifically for skiing. Any down filled jacket with a snug fit will do just fine. Whatever jacket you decide on should not be loose; it should fit rather snug for keeping the wind away from the body.

You will also need to wear a hat to cover the exposed areas of your face. Keeping your face covered will protect you from wind burn. Also pack sun glasses or goggles, Chap Stick to protect your lips and the Lancome eye cream is great for keeping the area around your eyes protected from the wind.

Skis can usually be rented in case you do not own a pair as can other necessities such as a pole. Check ahead of time to make sure the resort you are going to offers rentals. Many places also offer sledding or snowboarding if you prefer not to ski.

Have fun and remember should you find that being in the snow all day is not your cup of tea, the lodges usually have great areas for sitting in front of a fire and catching up on your reading.
